I have a lot of family that served in the military. Both parents, and pretty much my entire extended family. I grew up right outside of Fort Benning Georgia, so you would think I have some idea of what Memorial Day is all about.
Until recently, I didn’t. It was a day off from school that I often confused with labor day. It’s really only been since I’ve grown up and started a family of my own that I began to understood the sacrifice our troops and their families make.
I can’t imagine having to pick up and move every few years. I can’t imagine being separated from my husband for months. I can’t imagine the stress, much less the fear. Our troops and their families sacrifice so much for our country, and some even sacrificed their lives. So today I’m taking a moment to remember those who have fallen, and their families. Thanks for everything.
In honor of Memorial Day, my publisher, Musa Publishing is hosting a blog hop. Everyone is hosting a giveway, so the more blogs you visit, the more chances you have to win. To enter, follow me on my blog, facebook and twitter (links are to your right in the sidebar). For each place you follow post one comment by midnight on Memorial Day. The winner will be chosen at random and announced on Tuesday.
I’ve written a young adult novel called Persephone. Persephone is a modern day Retelling of the classic Greek myth. Here’s my blurb 🙂
The “talk” was bad enough, but how many teens get told that they’re a goddess? When her mom tells her, Persephone is sure her mother has lost her mind. It isn’t until Boreas, the god of winter, tries to abduct her that she realizes her mother was telling the truth. Hades rescues her, and in order to safely bring Persephone to the Underworld he marks her as his bride. But Boreas will stop at nothing to get Persephone. Despite her growing feelings for Hades, Persephone wants to return to the living realm. Persephone must find a way to defeat Boreas and reclaim her life.
My book doesn’t come out until July 7th. You’re welcome to wait for an advanced reader copy, but if you’d rather choose from one of the other books on the blog hop I’m happy to accommodate you. Check out all the books Musa Publishing has to offer. Be sure to post which book you want if you win!

Your book sounds great, Kaitlin. I love a good retelling of the Greek myths (being Greek Australian myself). Good luck with the release.
Your book sounds great!!! I teach 9th grade English and we delve into Greek mythology a little for The Odyssey. We watch Percy Jackson too. I will definitely have to recommend your book for those that are really into mythology. 🙂 As far as the contest, I followed your facebook and blog but I don’t really ever use my twitter – hope it still counts! If I win, I’ll wait for your book.
Your book is on son’s TBR. Lovely post.
I’d be willing to wait for your book if I won.
Thanks for a great post
